Trust Lands

How Scholar Academy's Trustland Council plans and reports on School LAND Trust funds.

School LAND Trust

Plans and reports

Every charter school has a Trust Land Council of the principal, teachers and parents. The council identifies the school's greatest educational needs, then discusses and votes on how to use School LAND Trust funds. Schools use these funds for things like technology, smaller class sizes and specialized courses.

Meeting schedule

January: The chair proposes a Trustland grant plan for the 2027–28 school year. Members share ideas for the school's goals and the use of funds, and the committee checks that the plan addresses the board's academic priorities with measurable, student-focused goals in math, science, language arts or other priorities.

March: The committee votes on the final 2027–28 Trustland grant plan. The plan is then submitted to the state. If the state requests changes, the committee makes them, votes again and resubmits.
